Tatum has an incredible depth of knowledge when it comes to character wants and needs, emotional “ghosts,” scene structure, and storytelling mechanics. I could immediately tell she is highly trained in the craft of building scenes and characters. She even recommended books, reading materials, and television series that could help expand my understanding of storytelling and strengthen the scope of my novel.

Because my book contains a significant amount of medical content, she also recommended resources to help me deepen my own understanding and improve the realism of those elements. That level of involvement meant a lot to me.

What impressed me most was how fully she immersed herself in my world, even though the draft was still rough and caught most details because of this. She worked through my information dumps and even read through all the extra series material I provided like maps, plans for book 2, so she could better understand the long-term direction of the story. She also organized our Zoom call professionally and thoughtfully so we could specifically workshop the ending, which was where I needed the most guidance.

When I say she went above and beyond, I truly mean it. She even sent me literary agent information and gave substantial advice on approaching the querying process and preparing the book for representation.

I highly recommend Tatum as an editor. I am incredibly happy with my decision to work with her, and I’m genuinely excited to watch her career grow — hopefully while helping shape the next Twilight. Here’s to hoping it’s Wolves of Eden!
